The nose is a central feature of your face. Its appearance can be an asset or a source of discontent. If you feel that your nose is disproportionately large compared with the other features of your face, the offices of Dr Honeybrook Facial Plastic Surgery in Brisbane and Sydney are happy to assess your concerns and potentially create a more harmonious, balanced appearance. Dr. Adam Honeybrook is also often sought after to correct or “revise” the results from previous nasal rhinoplasty surgery (or “nose jobs”).
As the country’s only triple-boarded surgeon in head/neck, facial plastic/reconstructive, and cosmetic surgery, he is no stranger to even the most challenging and complex “cases.” So, you know that your nose’s appearance and overall safety are in exceptional hands. Let us walk you through what to expect from the rhinoplasty procedure in the following four steps.
Just because a certain celebrity “wears” a button nose well does not mean that nasal shape or profile is right for your face’s naturally unique and beautiful characteristics. Dr. Honeybrook applies his artistry to account for your preferences and goals while also ensuring an understanding of your unique facial anatomy and characteristics. This understanding is then used to “design” a reworked nose that supports a natural, harmonious, and well-balanced appearance. Additionally, Dr. Honeybrook has invested in complementary technologies such as state-of-the-art 3-dimensional morphing capabilities as a specialist. This technology simulates how your nose will look post-surgery. So, you can virtually see what the result may look like post-operatively.
We can advise on preparation to support the safest, most predictable treatment experience and outcomes prior to surgery. Dr Honeybrook will often recommend the open rhinoplasty technique for patients, which includes individuals with health-oriented challenges, such as disordered breathing associated with a nasal deformity. By accessing the underlying tissues through an opening in the columella that separates the nostrils, Dr. Honeybrook has enhanced visibility to correct challenging nasal irregularities more easily.
The biggest thing we can tell you regarding rhinoplasty surgery is to exercise patience. Swelling can take up to a full year to completely disappear if it is your first rhinoplasty and up to 18 months or more for a revision rhinoplasty. Of course, this swelling is not noticeable to the general public at this stage. But you will likely know it is still there. Swelling goes down considerably at around the 3-4 week mark post-surgery. The final results will be seen when this prominent side effect fully resolves itself. Since the nose influences your appearance, our patients feel it is well worth the wait! Dr. Honeybrook will follow up with you and monitor your healing throughout this process. Early on, we can advise when nasal splints can be removed, which usually lasts one week, and sometimes when nasal retainers can support the nostrils as you recover.
