At Dr Honeybrook Facial Plastic Surgery in Queensland, we often consult with individuals concerned about changes in their brow position or forehead appearance. The position and shape of the brows play a subtle but important role in facial expression, and over time, tissue changes may alter this balance. A browlift may be considered for patients seeking to address these concerns.
Dr Adam Honeybrook is a specialist Head and Neck Surgeon and is also United States dual board-certified in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He performs a wide range of browlift techniques, including endoscopic (minimal access), lateral temporal, and hairline lowering approaches. Each treatment is tailored to suit individual anatomy and aesthetic goals.
Browlift procedures are designed to address soft tissue descent in the upper face, which may develop over time due to reduced collagen, elastin, and the natural effects of gravity. Some individuals experience heaviness of the brow, a lower-than-usual brow position, or skin redundancy that contributes to a tired or aged appearance. In certain cases, excess tissue may also affect the upper visual field.
You may be considered for this procedure if you are in good general health, have no contraindications to surgery, and are realistic about expected outcomes and potential limitations. Dr Honeybrook will assess whether this procedure—alone or in combination with others—may be appropriate based on your goals and medical history.
Browlift surgery is tailored to each individual and may vary in terms of technique, incision placement, and the degree of tissue adjustment. Incisions are typically made behind the hairline or at the temples, and the specific approach is determined by your facial anatomy and skin characteristics.
Endoscopic methods are commonly used where suitable, allowing for smaller incisions and reduced disruption to surrounding tissue. Through these carefully placed openings, the underlying soft tissues and muscle layers are gently adjusted to support a refreshed brow contour. In some cases, browlift surgery is performed in conjunction with upper eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) for a more complete approach to the upper face.
Your surgical plan will include personalised post-operative instructions to support healing and comfort. Typically, patients are advised to keep the head elevated for the first several days and avoid strenuous activity for at least one to two weeks. Mild swelling, bruising, and numbness are common in the early recovery period.
Sutures are usually removed after one week, and most incisions are well healed by two weeks. As swelling subsides and the tissues settle, the surgical outcome will become more apparent over time. Every individual heals differently, and we encourage patients to be patient with the recovery process.
If you are exploring surgical options to address changes in the brow or forehead, we invite you to book a consultation at our Queensland practice.
