At the offices of Dr Honeybrook Facial Plastic Surgery, men and women reach out to us for help with their ptotic or saggy eyebrows. The brow plays a conservable role in how we express motion, and it is not just about lifting the brow but also ensuring the brow shape is desirable. In your search for a surgeon to perform a browlift, Dr Honeybrook is Australia’s only triple-boarded surgeon (in head and neck, facial plastic and reconstructive, and cosmetic surgery) and is one of few surgeons in the country that performs all types of browlifts including endoscopic minimal access, lateral temporal, and hairline lowering.
A browlift lift counteracts the effects of structural changes within the skin and soft tissue (such as the loss of collagen and elastin) and the cumulative effects of gravity. In lifting the brows, wrinkles and lines on the forehead and between the brows are softened. So, you may be a good candidate for this treatment if you are unsatisfied by the appearance of the brows/upper eyelids and feel that it makes you look older than you are and “chronically” appear angry, tired, and sad. The associated “hooding” of the outer brow can even interfere with your ability to see well, as tissues may block your upward field of vision in severe cases. All surgical candidates should also be generally healthy, not smoke, and be realistic about the potential limitations of this procedure.
Dr. Honeybrook’s treatments are tailored to your needs and other factors, such as your facial anatomy. Furthermore, there are many different varieties of browlifts that can be tailored to your individual needs. That said, browlift surgeries generally entail placing openings in the scalp/hairline above the eyebrow or temples. The specific number of incisions and their sizes and positioning depend on your needs and the particular technique/approach recommended by Dr. Honeybrook. The idea is to minimise any scarring or undesirable side effects by carefully camouflaging the incisions in the hairline. Additionally, Dr Honeybrook often utilises endoscopic approaches to allow for smaller openings in the tissue as appropriate. Through these openings, the underlying tissues are accessed and adjusted as needed. This treatment may be safely and optimally performed with other procedures, such as an upper blepharoplasty, to remove excess tissue and tighten lax skin in the upper eyelid.
The offices of Dr Honeybrook Facial Plastic Surgery will review every step with you before your surgery, including (and especially) how to care for the treatment site afterwards. It is advised to keep your head relatively elevated for the first five to seven days and refrain from heavy lifting, strenuous exercise, and other activities that could disrupt your body’s natural healing processes. The treatment areas may also be swollen, bruised, and numb for 7-10 days. Sutures will largely be removed after a week, and incisions should fully heal in ~14 days. Many of our patients have been able to get back to their normal activities around the same time, but be patient with yourself and understand that everyone’s experience with treatment and healing is different. As your skin heals and swelling goes down, your lifted brow and eye region will improve with time.
